we had some sad news last night....
Stephen's sister passed away last night...
She was only 52 and only discovered she had cancer (in her spine) in October last year.
Apparently she had been sick for a while and kept going to her dr with the ongoing problem, he just passed it off as the flu and did nothing more about it.
She then came over here for a visit/holiday, she lives in Kalgoolie. When she arrived here she had to go to the dr's again as she was still terribly sick..
The dr. here sent her straight off to specialist, which usually takes a month or 2 to get into to have some thourough tests done.
It was then & there they discovered she had cancer in her spine and it looked like it was spreading.
This was in October. She stayed here for a longer stay, to have some more tests done at the Mater Oncology Unit and to spend some more time with her family (2x sisters, 2x brothers and both her parents). She said all her goodbyes and then flew home to start her treatment.
Just after Christmas things were going so well..
We were told only 2 weeks ago that she had been given 3mths to live and she was told that 6wks ago.
David & the girls (his 2 sisters) were flying out on the 22nd to be with her, then last Thursday she had taken a turn for the worse and the family was called for sooner.
David flew out on the Friday and the girls were to fly out on the Monday (today).
Sadly, we got the call late yesterday afternoon to say that she had given up the fight and had passed away... With her husband David, her only child Jasmine and her brother by her side.
She is at peace now from her aching body, but her family are left in devestation... It is such a sad trageidy...
It is very sad too to think the girls didn't make it over in time to see Rebecca before she did pass away...
Stephen isnt holding up too well mum said. He went through a tragedy many years ago when he was in a car accident when he was 17 with his family and his sister was killed. That hit him really hard and he never really got over the death of her. So now for this to happen, it has hit him really hard.. He said this morning, last night was the hardest thing he has ever had to do and that was to tell his parents, there daughter had passed away...
Im sorry i have posted such sad news...
give your loved ones a big hug and take care..............xx
